TOM SHOUSH

Featuring the original works of Tom Shoush of Glendive, Montana.

Tom was born and raised in Minnesota, but has lived and worked in Montana since 1995. He is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman with a BS degree in Biological Sciences.

Tom has been active in the visual and graphic arts since 1980. He was inspired by the work of the Dutch masters and impressionists, and is particularly intrigued with landscape artists who have a high degree of control over light and color in their work. His preferred medium is oil painting, but he is also an accomplished graphics artist and has done a lot of large scale work in spectacular multi-panel wall murals. His subjects include landscapes, often eastern Montana badlands or wooded mountain scenes, and wildlife.

Cityscape "Seattle Skyline"
This was an impressive design project undertaken by Tom in 2008 for a local cat ethusiast. The work was manufactured using plywood and MDF board, hand painted and constructed in the basement of the client's home. The project depicts the city skyline of Seattle, including the high rise buildings and the "Space Needle", familiar Seattle architecture. Hand-painted with enamels and flourescent paints, the skyline provides a spectacular night time scene when backlit. The work is also brilliantly functional as it provides a haven for the clients pet cats as they traverse the many storefronts and buildings throughout the design. The project measures approximately 16 feet in length, over 7 feet tall and 3 feet deep. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger image size with greater detail.
